December 2006 - Posts
Final tip of the year :-)
I installed Visual Studio 2005 SP1. After installing I should have got the option to create a new project using File, New Project (not referring the usual File,New Website option). SP1 ships the Web Application Template as part of the install. But nothing there.
This did it for me
1) Made a backup copy (just in case) of ProjectTemplatesCache and ItemTemplatesCache
2) Deleted these 2 directories (can be found in Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE)
3) Ran devenv /installvstemplates
Started Visual Studio and under File New Project I now had Web listed and could create either the Website or Web Service.
Found this out by mistake. Bring up the calendar by clicking on the time in the taskbar. Now click on the month (for example December 2006). You will get a year view. Click on the year and you get a ten year view. Click on this and you get a century view. Neat
Then you need to check out these posts that details the TFS Roadmap.

I have an old Pocket PC 2002 device at home that is connected to my wireless network. Even though it is old I find it very useful for syncing my email and even for streaming media.
Recently we upgraded to Exchange 2007 and I started to get some issues when synching. The first issue is a known one where you will get an error on first sync after the server upgrade has happened. Essentially it needs to a sync from scratch.
After that though I kept on getting an HTTP_500 error when I tried to sync. The wierd bit was that the calendar and inbox would sync fine and than I would get an error and it would not sync my other folders. I tried removing certain folders from the sync and then putting them back. I tried to remove all the data (by unchecking everything in the options). No luck with either option.
Finally I went to an option to reduce the amount of days I want to sync and the amount of data. At the same time I removed the option to get attachments. Voila a full sync of my folders went through properly.
So if you are getting this error where the synching starts and then just stops try messing with these settings to see if it makes a difference.
You can see I am back in the office (last few weeks were a bit hectic). Visit the ASP.NET Ajax site to download RC1.
Check it out here where you will find the links to download (400MB+). You will also find a link to a beta release of Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Vista Refresh
