Due to popular demand we have decided to add the majority of the unit testing features of Team System to the Pro Sku of Visual Studio. With the release of Orcas, the support for authoring, generating and running unit tests, will become available to the users of the Pro Sku of Visual Studio
Watching the cricket last night was not good for the heart. Add to that the fact that I am a Spurs fan - and they tend to be on a rollercoaster all the time. The games against West Ham and Chelsea must have gotten the blood pressure rising a bit too - and some of the Lions rugby games...
Last night though certainly had me on the edge. 5 runs with 5 overs and 5 wickets to go and we almost threw it away.Maybe they should put those heart monitors on the players like they do in the Pro20. That would have been fun. I am sure some heart surgeons have to be on standby.
Can we really win the World Cup - maybe we can and will peak at the right time :-) . I am not a gambling guy at all but what odds would you have got on Sri Lanka winning with those 5 overs to go. And that one ball that did everything but remove Peterson's offstump - not good for my health. But hey it's an addiction and I got to catch-up on some blog reading too.
If you are adopting (or looking to adopt) features like Workflow Foundation or WCF (even if it is on Windows Server 2003) and/or you are keen on some of the newer technologies shipping in Longhorn Server (eg Transational File System) than the Longhorn Server Touchdown Workshop is for you.
To clear up any confusion - (1) Anyone is free to attend. (2) ISVs are the main audience and (3) you do not need to signup to Touchdown (we would like it if you do) to attend

What are the requirements of attending?
· The Longhorn Jumpstart Event is part of the Touchdown Program. Touchdown is a free early adopter program for Independent Software Vendors who wish to leverage the technology in their own applications. It provides training, support and potential marketing exposure for ISVs. A typical prerequisite for participation in these events is these your company is enrolled in either the Windows Server "Longhorn" Ascend or Touchdown programs and you have profiled your application in Airframe. We have decided to remove this requirement and any ISV is free to attend.
· You have an interest in adopting one or more of the Longhorn Server Technologies (eg Workflow, WCF, IIS7 etc) in your application. Some of these technologies (most notably .NET Framework 3.0) are available for Windows Server 2003 as well.
· You sign up to the Touchdown Program and profile your application should you decide that you intend to leverage one or more of these features. This will require that your company be nominated. You can sign up prior to the event by contacting me
· Contact me if you want more information on the Longhorn Touchdown Program
· The event is primarily aimed at ISVs but other companies are free to attend as well. ISVs will receive priority booking.
Please note: At the Jumpstart event, we will discuss future training opportunities for Windows Server “Longhorn” in which you may participate.

J.D Meier has just blogged on the release of new prescriptive guidance for Visual Studio Team System - from the patterns and practices team. Check out his blog entry on the details including information on branching and structuring of projects.
Visit the VSTS Guidance site on Codeplex to get the scoop. Enjoy!
Busy day in the VSTS and TFS World. We have just published details of VSTS features in Orcas and a high level roadmap on what's coming in Rosario. Also included is some details on some of the Power Tools Releases
Visit the Team System Future Releases Page to get more details
Great news. We receive many requests on web based access to Team Foundation Server - i.e having most of the functionality of Team Explorer available via a Web interface. Teamplain is a product has that provided this capability but required an additional purchase. With Microsoft acquiring DevBiz you can now download TeamPlain for free - although each person accessing the portal will still need a CAL.
You can find more information via Brian Harry's post here and you can download from here
Check out Brad Abram's post on joining the OpenAjax alliance.
Also Scott Guthrie has a nice post on an AJAX documentation update and some new videos. The good news is that the AJAX docs can now be downloaded - for awhile the docs were only online

This support article lists the applications that have received either the "Certified for Windows Vista" logo or the "Works with Windows Vista" logo.
Unfortunately it does not look like anyone on this list is from South Africa. Now the "Works with" logo is not too hard too get. This is taken from the spec
To qualify for the Works with Windows Vista logo, an application must meet the following requirements:
1. The application installs without errors on any PC running on Windows Vista
2. The application works as well on Windows Vista as it does on Windows XP SP2, that is, all of the features are available to the end user. Minor functional differences such as rendering changes that do not prevent users from using features are acceptable.
3. The application works equally well in both of these scenarios:
a. Windows Vista was installed on a bare machine (“clean install”)
b. Windows Vista was installed as an upgrade from Windows XP SP2. It may be necessary to reinstall the application after Windows Vista was installed.
4. The ISV will provide the same or equivalent product support and warranties for users who install the application on a PC running Windows Vista as they provide for users running Windows XP SP2.
The "Certified for" logo is a bit more complex. You can find the spec here and test cases here. The good news though is that if you are part of the MS Partner Programs you can get 30 MSPP points.
If you are keen on either logo then visiting this site is the place to start. If you have questions or you are intending to get either logo feel free to send me an email. I am aware of some ISVs who are going for the logo.
Get it from here. Even if you do not intend to download or use I would recommend visiting the page to see what is in the CTP. You will find it useful I hope (I did!)
