Vista "calculating time required" bug fixed? Some pre-SP1 updates available

A couple of pre-SP1 updates for Vista are available. Instead of me reproducing what's out there, rather just check out http://www.windowsitpro.com/Articles/ArticleID/96749/96749.html?Ad=1 which has some info and the links.

I installed on Wed afternoon. I did not use my machine yesterday but today things do seem to run better. I have a machine with an nVidia card and these fixes are suppose to help.

Don't bother wasting your time installing these. I installed both updates and my Vista machine is still incapable of copying a 300MB file from a network share.

Thanks, Ahmed.

I'm really hoping this improves the Vista goodness.

My impressions thus far. I installed on Wed late afternoon and did not use the machine on Thurs (holiday). I used it on Friday the entire day and found Vista too be much better in terms of responsiveness etc. It will take awhile to get a better view of what is happening but first impressions for me is that updates are very useful. I just saw another blog post on weblogs.asp.net where someone is very happy with the updates. I have not tried to copy a 300MB file over the network though. Maybe I will give it a shot.

Note that I have a Toshiba machine with the Nvidia card and according to the release notes there a bunch of issues resolved with Nvidia. So depending on your machines/cards etc your experience might differ
