Information Card Resources
New Information Card Logo
Gone are the days of the little gray framed man serving as an indicator for sites accepting Information Cards. Microsoft announced a new graphical icon people can use on their sites to indicate that Information Cards are accepted there. Hopefully as Information Cards become more widely accepted we'll see more of these purple icons around. See the announcement on Mike Jones's blog or grab the download here with the set of icons in differents sizes. There is some guidelines on using the logo available here and a FAQ here. I've updated the login page here to use the new graphics.
Information Card Ruby
I've been spending some time this year getting up to speed with Ruby and in particular Ruby on Rails. Last night one of the features I was looking at adding to the site I'm using as a lab was Information Card Registration and Authentication. So while searching for resources I was quite pleasantly surprised to come across the "Information Card Ruby" project on Codeplex that provides a plugin and the supporting library for integrating personal information cards into a Ruby on Rails web application**. The code is still in early development but with Microsoft and Thoughtworks as the primary contributors to the project it's a pretty solid project.
** Setting up Information Card support and configuring the Ruby WEBrick server to support SSL is worth a post on it's own but I'm still a little unsure as to what to do about Rails related posts. Do I keep it on my .NET blog and risk boring the readers I have here or should I split it onto a new blog for Mac and Rails related content? Although with my inconsistent posting the past year and a half it probably wouldn't be out of character if I suddenly started posting DB2 related content :P
