Sharepoint: Using Lists to Create Collapsible Navigation Bars

Full Article Here

Collapsible navigation bars are great ways to help guide visitors to Web pages on your site. They allow the visitor to see a limited number of items to choose from, and then click a plus sign next to the item they want to find out more information about. Collapsible navigation bars are especially helpful on Web sites with many items to navigate to because navigating a long list of items that are not grouped in any way can be frustrating for visitors.“

Sharepoint: Top 10 Reasons to Upgrade to SharePoint Portal Server 2003

Here is 1 Reason to upgrade.

Personal sites (My Sites).

My Sites have a private view so that users are able to store and access personal content securely, such as unfinished documents and customized news and links, as well as a public view that enables users to publish content such as presentations and finished reports to other users. Public profile information can be synchronized by administrators from directory sources such as Active Directory to allow users from throughout an organization to find the expertise necessary to accomplish business tasks.

Sharepoint: Custom SharePoint Import / Export Tools nearing Release Candidate Quality

From the GotDotNet Workspace

“Today we’ve made a significant step towards Release Candidate of Custom SharePoint Importer and various Exporters with the new releases of all tools and new Developer documentation.

Although the source code still lacks proper comments and is still rough at times – we’ve decided to open Source Control Access to everyone. So feel free to download the code and customize to your hearts content!

There will be significant changes ahead still for the source code to bring the quality up to MSDN standards. But for the time being – we hope you find it useful for whatever you’re using it for.

For developers working on a legacy system migration – we’ve made creating Custom Importer XML format easy with the new ExtractorBase library and example project. Have a look at the project and start your custom migration tools today! If you’re planning to make a publicly available Extractor for a system – please contact the owners of this space via GotDotNet for extra help & place to publish your tools.

Unfortunately SPS2001 Extractor had to give in priority and is not currently available for this Importer Release. If you’d still like to use it – please contact VelluV via GotDotNet.

Happy migrating and please, please report back good or bad experiences with the tools via the Message Board or private message via GotDotNet to myself (VelluV) or Kimmo Forss (KimmoF). ”
