I'm trying to decide whether Outlook 2007 is the worst RSS reader I've ever used or not. To be fair, that's not really it's job, and besides it's sluggish performance I'm very happy with it otherwise. However it is, should we say, innovative in the way it downloads the RSS, sometimes deciding not to download a feed for days on end. It's feeds list is vile, especially when it comes to news feeds like BBC's with big headers. In addition, it's sometimes as slow as hell opening a post up in a window, with serious lag when moving from one post to another. When I put my posts in categories, the categories don't show how many items are unread beneath them, so I have to go hunting each time. Hardly the point of an aggregator.
When I decided to finally chuck it and return to my tried and true RSS Bandit, it decided not to let me delete a few of my feeds. The reason given: I lack the permissions to delete the folder. On my PST Outlook store, running as Admin...
Interesting.
I also briefly played around with the IE7 aggregator. However, since it doesn't support categories at all, it's a complete waste of time. As is the 15 minutes I spent removing the feeds I had so hastily loaded in. One by one, right click, select Delete, press Yes, repeat 97 times. Delete button? Nope, multi-select? Nope? A "Clear all Feeds" button? Nuh-uh. It makes one wonder what happened to Microsoft's fabled policy of "dogfooding" their software?
