It looks like Telkom is in a bit of a pickle over its recent " Do Broadband " advertising. A post on MyBroadband details the complaint from a consumer that says its false advertising. Mr Moorad lodged a consumer complaint against Telkom’s “do” broadband campaign, arguing that the advertisements claims of being suitable for ‘movies, gaming and music’ is misleading. In a previous post I originally announced that two South African bands were in the top rated tracks list in the Xbox Soundtracks competition run by Microsoft and Universal Music. I was saddened to open my feed reader this morning. Its been a few months since I blogged about the Nickelback tour to South Africa. The organizer, Kusasa , never did get around to a press release and the concert wasn't rescheduled for early in 2007 as was claimed last year. So I finally got on the phone to the organizers them and apparently the band is going to be gracing fans with their presence either at the end of November or the first week of December 2007. A year after their planned tour dates is an awfully long time to keep fans waiting...
This morning I attended the First Tuesday breakfast session on IPTV . Rishaal from Accenture presented a global view of IPTV and whatnot and it was really boring. Microsoft EMEA is running a worldwide competition to discover the next-generation of music-makers through an initiative called Xbox Soundtracks . The competition has reached the voting stage and the community is called to action to vote on the submissions. The winner of the competition will get the chance to record their soundtrack professionally with the Universal Music team. BT Games just announced that the Forza Motorsport 2 time trial tournament that was announced yesterday for their Northgate store has been changed due to an overwhelming response from the community. The tournament has been expanded to include 9 of 10 of their stores. The only store not participating will be the Rustenburg store. Check out the updated invitation here . Zoopy they said, I was wondering if they were going a bit loopy in the head but apparently South Africa has its very own YouTube meets Flickr site and its called Zoopy . Its run by a local company called Full House Technologies whose goal it is to make the world a smaller place that's far more fun to live in . One result of all the commotion around the Xbox 360 Dashboard update and the new content control was an urgent push to get the draft of an online petition to Microsoft South Africa requesting clarity on Xbox LIVE in South Africa out the door earlier. Over the last couple of days the local Xbox 360 community has been a bit agitated regarding the Dashboard software update that has gone live today. The Microsoft Community Manager for Xbox.com known as AceyBongos has made an interesting post today regarding the new content controls put in place for Xbox Live Marketplace. Currently South Africa doesn't have official access to the Xbox LIVE service as it hasn't been launched yet locally so a lot of us signed up for access through the UK or US services.
