Car free Day
"Car free day". What a joke here in South Africa. Our public transport system in this country is not a system... it's a joke. The only way I can see "car free day" working in SA, is if everyone rode motorcycles. :) That would reduce congestion, lessen petrol usage, and everyone would actually have fun riding to work! I know that when I ride my motorcycle to work, I'm far more relaxed during the day. Are any of you going to participate in car free day on Thursday, and take public transport to work...
Happy Birthday to me

TechEd 2005 blues
Well, after many emails to management here where I work, I've finally been told that my company will not send me to Tech Ed. And the reason is that there are “more valuable seminars etc held during the year by Microsoft, that Tech Ed doesn't compare to.” So, now obviously that is a poor excuse. And what I need to ask all you guys is: does anyone have any comments / ideas / feedback that I can use to try change management's decision. I'm looking for quantifyable business advantages to...
MCAD and holiday
Well, I haven't posted anything in a long time, so I think an update is in order. On the 17th March, I passed 70-310, and am now MCAD.NET!!! YAY! Only 2 more and my MCSD is in sight. I'm quite excited about it because I've been studying for these exams for it seems like forever already! On other news, we just had a fantastic 2 week holiday in Cape Town, and Kyron got to see her great grandmother who lives in Gordon's Bay. We spent the 2 weeks just driving round, taking in the sights and things. And...
Anniversary
Yesterday was my 2nd wedding anniversary and I took my wife and baby out to dinner at Salathai in the Crown Plaza Hotel on Rivonia road in Sandton. It was a great evening out! Highly recommended! Baby slept though, so she wasn't impressed. Heh heh I also bought my wife some sexy lingerie.. or should I say, bought "myself" some sexy lingery.. (Who get's the benefit of seeing this stuff worn anyways... Heh heh) at Eastgate yesterday. And initially I walked into this nice little boutique shop and looked...
70-305 passed!!
Well, I wrote my 70-305 exam yesterday. (Developing Web Apps with VB.NET) And passed!! 981 points. (98%) So I'm very happy about that! The exam coordinator couldn't believe it! She reckons that the only people who score that high are instructors! HaHaHa. Talk about "big head" syndrome now! Anyways, I had a flat panic beforehand though! I was sitting relaxing at home, watching TV etc because my exam was booked for 12:30... or so I thought. So at about 11am, I start getting things ready, and find my...
Warning: KEY DELTA in Isando
I recently had my Opel Astra Serviced at Key Delta in Isando. BIG MISTAKE! This is what happened: I took my car in on the Tuesday for it's 60000km service. They had it the whole day, and I fetched it in the afternoon. All seemed fine until I got home and noticed that the bonnet was not aligned properly. The hinge was out by about 1 cm on the passenger door side. So the bonnet sat about 1cm higher than the fender panel. Anyways, I took it back the bext day and complained. So they said that I shouldn...
Amazing times in South Africa
When you read things like this on News24, and then get things like this posted to you from home affairs... It just makes me wonder what the government is up to? They can spend R1 billion on changing Pretoria to Tshwane or something unpronouncable to foreign tourists, and still not get a "R20 an hour" temp in to update their addresses in the home affairs computer system. This government is to amp'd to eradicate any semblance of the apartheid years by renaming everything, I just find it ironic that...

Right. 70-305 Developing Web Applications is next. I've booked on the 1st February at 10am. So I've got to get some studying done ASAP now! My brother spoiled me with the complete set of MeasureUp practise tests, and they expire in April!! So I gotta get moving baby! Yeah! On another note, I'm now at 32million offense in .... hey! where are all the font/style/url buttons? I can't even see the option for HTML view while editing this post. Anyways... As I was saying.... 32million offense in DarkThrone...
Lots of news
Well, I have lots of news... Last week Wednesday (16th), I passed my first MCSD.NET exam!! I chose to get the SQL exam (229) out the way first. Next I reckon that stupid analysing and defining one. But I'll see how it goes. I might decide otherwise later on. Then, on Friday afternoon I officially became a dad!! My baby girl was born at 5:10pm. She weighed 3.04kg and is the best thing to happen to me EVER! Welcome to the world Kyron Adkins. I've got an "email storyboard" with pictures if anyone's...
Fahrenheit 911
<A-Team_BA_Baraccus_voice> I pity the fool who paid to see Fahrenheit 911 that is currently showing on the circuit. Because it's showing for free on MNET this coming Monday night. </A-Team_BA_Baraccus_voice> Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!

MSN Messenger Plus!!
I recently had a nice surprise when I installed the MSN Messenger Plus 3 upgrade. It also installs some interesting favourites and desktop icons as well as hijacks the internet explorer start page. It's goes to MySearchNow.com. In order to remove it, you need to run the removal program on the mysearchnow.com page. Find it under HELP at the bottom of the page, and then under. "How do I remove..." What a pain. Spyware and adware really grates me no end. Don't people have anything better to do with...
