ShortHorn
I had a good laugh when I read this news piece on TheServerSide.net. I think Microsoft has completely lost the plot : Microsoft Director John Montgomery has said that there will be a public beta of Longhorn available in June of 2005 with the final release scheduled for the second half of next year. Having removed the three major features of Longhorn; WinFS, Avalon, and Indigo the new operating system will contain reliability and management features. Editor's Note: Shortly after nixing plans to release...

Telkom alternative..... get your voice and data over your power line
Seems like plans are in place by electricity companies to offer voice and data services over their networks. How cool will that be. Check it out here . [The other player is of course Transnet, who I understand has high-bandwith network cables everywhere their tracks run.........] Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!

Bye bye SOA
Since the very first time I heard about SOA I was very sceptical about it. Now it seems that everyone agrees that the term was just hot air and will die out pretty soon. Sun Microsystems - The big bad corporate monster
One always get the idea that the Sun/Java community tries to create the image that Microsft is the big bad corporate that wants to take over the world and dictate to everyone what they can and can't do and in what way etc. etc. On the other side they try to portray themselves as the big loving family where everything is open, everyone has a say, everyone's opinion is important etc. So it was interesting to read this post by Ted Neward who's being taken on by Sun for having a website called “...

FINALLY
We get the first wicket, my gosh ! we sure took oor sweet time : 52.3 Pollock to Gambhir, OUT: full and angling away from the left- hander, Gambhir goes for a tentative drive this time and the ball kisses the edge and goes to Thami Tsolekile who takes a good catch falling to his left! That is the fall of the first Indian wicket! India are 218/1, it's gonna be a long day! Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!

MS releases Enterprise Development Reference Architecture V1.1
The new version is now avalible on their gotdotnet workspace . I must say that this area of work, previous known as ShadowFax, does not seem to get a lot of attention. I wonder what Microsoft's position is on this ? How official is this project as a reference Architecture for Microsoft enterprise projects ?
