Robert Scoble had a very interesting interview with Jim Allchin, that can be viewed on Channel9 over here. Jim chats about Longhorn, 64-bit, and a bit about his life.

The CAB is a new application block being developed for .NET 2 that lets you build up advanced "smart client" applications by composing them from different plug-in modules. Sounds cool? Keep an eye on Peter Provost and Ed Jezierski, who are developing it.

I can think of quite a few international speakers I'd like to see out here, and I'm sure they'd have the time of their lives down here!!!!

Some people I'd love to see at Tech Ed Africa 2005:

  1. Don Box
  2. Chris Sells
  3. Julie Lerman
  4. Brad Abrams
  5. Jim Allchin
  6. Scott Hanselman (I know he'd love a trip down here!)
  7. Rory Blyth
  8. Ian Griffiths
  9. Roy Osherove
  10. Craig Andera
  11. Anders Hejlsberg (who *unfortunately* has no public blog)
  12. Dan Fernandez
  13. Eric Gunnerson

Who should be added to the list?

In support of Thea's effort in getting Julie Lerman out here for Tech Ed. Bring her on!!!

Indigo is something to start learning - there's a lot to learn, so the sooner the better.  Indigo is a set of .NET technologies for building and running connected systems, centered around the WS architecture, and is in essence a unification of Microsoft's distributed computing technologies.

Scott Seely is on the Indigo team, and is working with Brian Nantz on a new book on Indigo. You can read lots about Indigo over here, as well as find some of the chapters.

So, I was driving home after a hectic day at work last night when my phone rang. It was none other than Ruari Plint from Microsoft SA - apparently he will be in town, and how can we let this opportunity slip? He will be talking to us on ASP.NET 2 on Thursday night. Sure, it is a mighty short notice, but there's no way that you can miss this one guys - his ASP.NET 2 sessions was rated the best of all sessions at Tech Ed Africa last year.

Date:        14 April 2005
Time:       18:00 for 18:30
Venue:     Conference Room, Marriott-at-Kingsmead
Topic:       ASP.NET 2
Speaker:  Ruari Plint (Microsoft SA)

Please RSVP on this thread, or over here. This sessions should be great; see you there!!!

I'll be there. How about you?

It doesn't shatter when you hit it. Rather, it bends. It can be molded almost as easily as plastics, and it looks just like “ordinary” glass. Check it out.

Yahoo's competition for Google's Gmail and Orkut networks has gone beta in the form of Yahoo 360. Quoting from the site:

Share what matters to you

Create your own place online. Share photos. Create a blog. List your favorites, send a blast, and more. See an example

Keep your friends and family close

Invite them to your place to see what you've shared. They can create their own place and link it to yours. It's a great way to stay up to date.

Control who sees what

Share as much as you want, with whomever you want. You decide.

Using of the service is by invite only. Interesting!
