Back @ work
by
hannes
Back at work after a couple of days of R&R at the sea , it was wonderful to relax with sand between the toes. One project down and another one on the horizon. This time is going to be a interesting and challenging one calling for creativity. It's really too soon to tell but I guess the final solution will most likely be a very smart client application. Finally some rest
by
hannes
Can't wait for the weekend to start. Me and the wife are taking a well deserved break and are one our way to Stilbaai for a few days. T he project on which I was working fulltime for the past 18 months has been just been signed off by the client so it's time to celebrate. When I return to work a new challenge awaits but more about that later. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!

Why Math is Taught in School (Written By A Very Wise Man)
by
hannes
I was riding to work yesterday when I observed a female driver cut right in front of a pickup truck, causing him to have to drive on to the shoulder to avoid hitting her. This evidently angered the driver enough that he hung his arm out his window and gave the woman the finger. "Man, that guy is stupid," I thought to myself. I ALWAYS smile nicely and wave in a sheepish manner whenever a female does anything to me in traffic, and here's why: I drive 48 miles each way every day to work. That's 96 miles...

Which way is forward?
by
hannes
Developing mostly in VB.Net for the past 2+ years MS is ever increasingly starting to thrown curve balls at me by giving examples almost exclusively in C#. The lastest Enterprise Library is a prime example of this. Having done C and C++ development in the past C# is not at all unfamiliar but I wish MS will make up there mind about which language direction they are going. If it's C# please tell us so that we can get ride of VB sooner than later. And please don't tell me C# for enterprise development...

The past, present, future and the Cape Town heat
by
hannes
What a weekend, yesterday mid day I had to go to Stellenbosch and the outside temperature was 41 degrees, ouch. No wonder the cricket boys was able to beat the English, the poor visitors properly was more considered about getting out of the sun. Well last week was hectic and tragic so let's hope this week will go smoother. If I make it alive through the next week a well dissevered couple of days rest on Stilbaai's beach is my reward. Up Table Mountain we go!
by
hannes
How often do you do something on the spur of the moment? Last evening was so beautiful in Cape Town that we decided to go and watch the sunset from the top of Cape Town. We got the lower Cable Car Station @ 7 and after a long queue we got to the top of Table Mountain just as the sun was setting over the Atlantic. What a stunning view! Down below the city lights starting to come on. It was so tranquil that you can not imagine that you where in the middle of a city. Check my pic's here . Share this...
