John Backus passed away last weekend, for most programmers the name does not ring a bell. But for those that does know the name he’ll be remember as one of the early pioneers of programming with his work around the FORTRAN language. 2007 F1 Grand Prix

This weekend marks the start of the 2007 F1 Grand Prix season. At the end of the season I think we will look back and say it was one of the most interesting. With Schumi gone and the other two top drivers of 2006, Kimi and Alonso, both in new cars predictions will be difficult. If Ferrari can produce an indestructible car for Kimi, who is know as a driver who breaks cars, Kimi will not easily be catch on a racing track. Massa is the dark horse, last season he very quietly proved himself as driver...

Crime again, the same story, just a little closer at home.

On Friday one of my wife colleagues was robbed with a gun put in her mouth. This did not happen in Hillbrow but at Groote Schuur Hospital, Cape Town. She was followed from the bank where she withdraw cash. The robbers must have followed her from inside the bank because they knew exactly where she kept the envelope with the money in her purse. Although she was unable to identify them individually she recognized them as Nigerians. Why do we allow Nigerians in our country? I can understand the Somalians...
