Silverlight what?
by
hannes
Microsoft Silverlight (code-named Windows Presentation Foundation/Everywhere or WPF/E) is a proprietary XAML-based runtime for browser-based Rich Internet Applications, providing a subset of the animations, vector graphics, and video playback capabilities of Windows Presentation Foundation. Version 1.1 also includes a version of the CLR so that Silverlight applications can be written in any .NET language. Read more here on Wikipedia, get it here from Microsoft. Why analyst should be building the Domain Layer
by
hannes
I had a very interesting discussion the other day with some of my fellow analysts about application development in an ideal world using Domain Driven Design. Layering according to Domain Driven Development can loosely be divided into 4 layers. These layers are the User Interface, Application, Domain and Infrastructure layers. On top we have the User Interface layer which is a dumb layer. Next is the Application layer that co-ordinates the system, in other words it controls the flow in the system...

Getting Orcas
by
hannes
Getting my hands on Orcas Beta is turning out to be a real challenge; the MSDN download is split into 8 parts each about 740 Mb big. This makes it impossible for me to download at home and very risky doing it at work. So come on Microsoft, please give use an option to mail order it so that I can start playing with LINQ. Untill then the search continue.... Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!

Blog Awards
by
hannes
The 2007 South African Blog Awards has recently been awarded. The overall winner was Tertia with her blog called Tertia.org . If you like to read about parenting and infertility go have a look, be warned this is not for macho dudes like me. Two of my favorite bogs also received recognition, Keo.co.za and Stevehofmeyr.co.za . Well next year I'll try again. Idiots
by
hannes
I‘m becoming sick and tired of politicians playing the racist card every time they find themselves painted in a corner. We don’t need idiots like this in government. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!
