So according to the Microsoft site, I analyse 1.4 million records a day:

I'll bet even Bill Gates doesn't get through as many as that!
Shawn Cicoria has a nice
article on Https in Windows Server 2003 and XP SP2, as well as how it ties in to WCF for client-server callbacks.
Well, I'm sure most people have heard the news now that Bill Gates is moving on. This is a pretty major move and I'm very concerned for the future of the Microsoft corporation. It's a pretty dirty job, but I guess somebody has to do it, so I'd like to formally volunteer my services. Hello, hello, is anyone from MS listening...
;-)
Whew, I finally managed to bash out the 3rd tutorial in my WCF series. It's taken me a while to get the SDKs and update the earlier articles and now they've got an given us another drop recently! I'll be getting it installed soon and confirming that Tutorials 1 & 2 are still ok, but in the meantime feel free to get your teeth stuck into MessageContracts in this latest Tutorial.
For those who're interested, the other tutorials are available at:
Tutorial 1 - Hello World
Tutorial 2 - DataContract vs Serializable
Or you could just visit the general Articles page.
Just an FYI for those who may have been following my WCF tutorial series - I recently updated the existing WCF tutorials to the Feb CTP / Beta 2 drop in time for DevDays, as well as adding a little bit more info to the tuts themselves. I'm currently working on tutorial 3, which is almost done. After that I'll have a chance to confirm they all work on the _latest_ beta 2.2 (*->), but they should be ok...
I
posted recently about
OneRedPaperClip and how Kyle MacDonald was trying to trade from a single red paperclip to an entire house.
Andre had a look at it and stumbled upon a local version in Jo'burg called
onematchstick. I'm definitely going to join in the trades!
So how's this for a wierd coincidence.
All of the Spurs (a big local family steakhouse / restaurant) have some kind of name, usually cowboy-related, like the "Cincinnati" Spur, or the "Rodeo" Spur. Last night, after the DevDays sessions, which included my WCF session, a couple of us decided to go for a drink afterwards and some wanted to eat. The only place we could find close by was a Spur called ... you guessed it - the "Indigo" Spur!
I noticed in my "InfoCard" session at DevDays yesterday that the top left corner keeps vanishing! It only started doing this yesterday (just in time for the demo). Wierd.
Also, one of the hawk-eyed attendees spotted a typo within the Infocard screen itself and, upon checking, we found another. Both of these are circled in the image below. You can see that third parties, like "backs" and "amjor" websites can issue Infocards ;-).
Btw, I'm calling it "InfoCard" because both of these have probably been fixed in the latest builds...
Sowmy Srinivasan has a great post on
various serialization options in WCF that covers some interesting options.
