MSN Spaces is a cool, new blogging and information sharing service launched on MSN. Looks quite nifty, think I'll give it a try what's especially funky is the fact that you can choose to make it visible to the public or only to contacts on your messenger contact list.

Project Firefly site launched

Some of you might have heard or seen the new site we launched for students and lecturers, but if you haven't have a look here http://www.projectfirefly.co.za.

So what is Project Firefly?

Project Firefly is an online community for students and lecturers in IT related fields. It’s a meeting place to share ideas, thoughts and happenings as well as interact online, help each other out and support the Project Firefly Software Design competition.

Yeah yeah, I know haven't posted in quite some time. Well had a interesting few weeks thus far, and time just flies....anyway with Microsoft moving into a new building and having it basically being built around us, thats always fun :-p Oh well such is life. At least we're in and we have network access etc :-)

Visual Studio.NET 2005 Beta 1 Publically Anounced today

That’s right – Beta 1 of Visual Studio 2005 is here! To date, Microsoft has released various pre-release builds of Visual Studio 2005 such as the alpha release at PDC and new interim builds we call Community Technology Previews. At Tech-Ed Europe on June 29, 2004, Microsoft announced the availability of Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1 along with some other very important announcements detailed below.

Jip I know I've been kinda quiet on the blogging scene the last few weeks, thats one thing I seem to have a problem with, even though I would like to share knowledge etc I normally just don't find the time during a work week and come weekend there are other things that keeps one busy :-(

Pretoria - Ten tertiary education institutions offering Masters in Business Administration (MBA) qualifications have had their MBA courses scrapped, the Council for Higher Education said on Thursday.

Six existing business schools received full accreditation.

They are the Gordon Institute of Business Science at the University of Pretoria, the Wits Business School, the Graduate School of Business at the University of Stellenbosch, the Graduate School of Business of the University of Cape Town, the Graduate School of Leadership at the University of SA (Unisa) and the Graduate School of Management at the University of Pretoria.

The re-accreditation process formed part of a broad evaluation of all MBA qualifications on offer in South Africa.

Institutions that failed to make the grade would have to phase out their programmes.

The courses offered by the University of Natal, Technikon Witwatersrand, the Cape Technikon were among those of ten tertiary institutions to be scrapped for failing to meet certain minimum standards.

Others included the Durban Institute of Technology, the Regent Business School, the De Montfort SA and the Business School Netherlands.

Twelve MBA programmes were conditionally accredited, including the University of the Free State's School of Management, the Pretoria Technikon Business School, the Milpark Business School and Damelin International College.

They had one year to make the required changes.

In some cases students who have already enrolled will be allowed to complete the degree, and in others they would be transferred to other institutions.

Students of those schools who lost their accreditations would have a valid MBA qualification, the CHE said. But these were likely to be frowned upon by prospective employers.
