My first "real" win!
On Sunday the 17th of April I played in the first ever Father/Son Golf day at Bellville Golf Course. After an absence of more than a year I was aiming just to shoot a round under a 100 from a 19 handicap. Anything was possible and after my first shot (that went into out of bounds) I wasn't feeling very positive for the rest.
That was after I have finished the 3rd hole (6 over par) at that stage. Somehow I managed to have found my rhythm and have played better after I managed to pull through with a par on the 4th. After scoring back to back par on both the 9th and 10th I knew something great was starting to happen. On the 11th I scored a birdie and went on to score 3 more pars after that.
To cut to chase I have managed to played the round of my life so far finishing on 87! That is like in 4 shots better than my handicap.
The best was still to come. Not knowing it at all Jake White, coach of the Springboks also played. At prize giving we (myself and my dad) were awarded 1st Prize. Needless to say everyone clapped hands. I think I can say that Sunday was the day that Jake clapped hands for me! ;-) Jake was awarded the prize for the longest drive on the 10th!
