This was the start of the end.
All of a sudden Mr. Nice Guy turned into this monster of a Landlord. After 2 years of being the best tenants we could, paying the monthly rent in time, looking after the garden, spending money on locks and doors that wouldn't work, regularly washing the carpets and being good neighbours(he actually stayed in the house just above us) everything just changed.
It started with our deposit.
How could I have been so stupid to expect the deposit back? There were all kinds of stories and excuses on why we couldn't get the deposit back. We figured that with some legal help this problem can be resolved. But the lawyer didn't last long after the Landlord's living room became a battlefield. You see, this guy is an ex policeman from the old government and propably thinks that he can get away with anything(especially if your a "Church man"). It has been 4 months and we still haven't received the deposit and we never will.
But this is not where my story ends.
Just before we moved out we had an agreement that he will take over the ADT contract(I signed for 3 years, but the contract can be transferred to another person). But I think after the whole lawyer episode he decided against it.
Well in that case I want my alarm system back!!
This got Mr. Nice Guy very upset, because he likes his alarm system and after all, it is free because Janus is paying the bills, right?
To make a long story short...ADT went to see the guy(the alarm system is still their property)...the livingroom turned into a battlefield again...and ADT left empty handed. Yesterday ADT informed me that their legal department is investigating the case and that they will sort out Mr. Nice Guy. Luckily my subscription is suspended until the alarm system is installed into my new home. But he still costed me 4 months payment without having a service.
Hopefully this will be sorted soon...so watch this space for the next episode.
