Beware of KuduClub.com

Just a quick note to all your Expats out there.

For those of you who don't know KuduClub. KuduClub provides access to South African TV and Radio shows over the internet. Which is a great idea and works pretty cool.

But, as always there is a catch to all of this. Obviously a subscription is required to view these shows, which is fine. But please watch out when subscribing, you might think that you only subscribe for 4, 6 or 12 months but this is actually a recurring payment.

I might have missed this, but nowhere on the subscription page it stated that this will be a recurring payment and it puts the user under the impression that this will be a once off payment.

Just a heads up for all you lovely people out there;)

I have used it a lot and am generally happy.  I think the recurring payment thing is clearly stated in the subscription options, though that may not always have been the case.

My main beef with the website is that it crashes or times out or does not respond periodically, often just when you want to watch a live game.  This has happened more than once to me and is very frustrating.  Right now, I want to watch the Sharks play the Blues in S14, but the site is not responding.

I wonder if they are oversubscribed?

Yip, you're right Jonathan - trying to also log in to watch the S14 Sharks vs Blues game - also not able to view the kuduclub page - this does happen every now and again - maybe the amount of traffic to the website if posing them a greater problem!!!  And I'm trying to log in with superfast optic fibre broadband in the US.  But this is how it goes sometimes...maybe Eskom has zoned powercuts to the area where the kuduclub's main server is at!!!

BEWARE of Kudu Club is apt. All works fine until there is a big rugby match and invariably you CANNOT connect. This has been going on for years and they don't give a damn because they have a captive audience and don't need to correct the problem....yet! What I wouldn't give to have a tel # to be able to call them especially when a bunch of guys come round to watch a game. Not sure if Media Zone (their associate company) is as bad..any info on them, could you have succesfully watched the Sharks/Blues live today??

I live in Denmark and have been using Kuduclub for about 2 years. I have had some of the problems referred to above but the problem has always been temporary. I recall only one game I could not watch at all.

On the positive side you can download the games later and watch them at your leisure and over and over again. Also the quality is better than the live stream. Kudu is also cheaper than Mediazone generally but you are restricted to games with SA teams (like in S14) and some games you are blocked from because of TV rights.

All in all it's been an affordable en steady enough system for me. So if your standards and expectations are not skyhigh I can recommend it.

I been watching Kudu for 4 years now in Canada Mainly for the rugby and it has been a life line. Technical difficulties are more the exception than the rule but it can be hella frustrating when you are pyshced up for a game at stayed up till 2;00 am to find out there is a problem. But the joy of being able to watch the other 99% of the games which are delivered as promised is sweet. And for only $10/month.

I've subscribed KuduClub for my son in Germany under the impression that it will be for a trial period or 3/4 months.  After the 3/4 months this subscription could be renewed if he felt or wanted to - BUT before he could view any program, he had to supply his credit card number!  thus, needless to say, without a renewal, and or letter/e-mail or any other indication KUDUCLUB steals????? the subscription from his credit card!!  how is that for "skelm"??

exactly my experience too !!  after a year I tried to unsubscribe and was told(emailed) that my subscription has to run for 2 years; I wonder how many thousands of $10/month they "collect" from customers no longer interested in their service ??

Hi, there is an online chat service available under the contact us sections, they will help you with your queries so you are not completely lost if it does not work, some settings on your computer interferes with the programmes, no they dont have childrens programmes, you can actually see the programmes on the site, I am generally quite happy with Kuduclub, it is only £5 a month so you cant expect sky tv... but does anybody know what up with the site at the moment, i cannot find it under www.kuduclub.com, which is very weird...

Rugby that is advertised is not availble we have now cancelled and will watch elsewere. To stop the money going off your account (reacurring)just call your bank and they will send you a new credit card.

Hi There.

Kuduclub used to work ok. I haven't used it for a while and now every time  want to play a programme it only takes me into the upgrade page. Very frustrating especially since the website has no "contact us" button so one can bring it to the attention of a techo if they still exist. I want to cancel my subscription, but that seems to only be possible by canceling my credit card.

I wish they read this and start caring about their (paying) customers.

So where to start? I live in Germany and at Euro 99.50 for 12 mnths this looks like a good deal. However this translates to about R 1 200 and that's no small change , even in this day and age in SA! After DAYS of communicating with the online live chat help, I (we) finally managed to get everything to work and I must admit, work well at that. So far, it has cost me a lot of my free time and not what I would expect when purchasing a so-called up-and-running online service. I think that the Kuduclub IT guys have learn't just as much as I have in getting this to work and overall, I am not impressed in being one the 'Guinea pigs' for Mnet to make money!

To be honest, the web is full of offers of this sort which do not initially work and I am ashamed that a SA company like Mnet cannot do their homework properly and provide a service that encourages and satisfies customers, rather than giving them the feeling that they have been 'ripped off' because they don't have the time (or inclination)to persevere and end up paying for an unuseable service.

As of this moment, I cannot access the Kuduclub web page and I rest my case!
