Holy moly! my new house does not have a washine machine so I decide to do a bit of washing before I left the old house including the jacket with my passport in it. Not the smartest thing. Fortunately the travel girls Rennies rang the High Commission.Who said and i quote
"categorically do not issue emergency travel documents unless in the case of death of an immediate family member as long as the death certificate is provided".
If you go directly to the consulate yourself, they will process in 5-6 working days, she says earliest they will maybe have the passport completed is 26/27SEP, if we submit on your behalf 10-15 working days.
At this point I decided a bit of going to the High Commission and begging, crying and wailing might be in order as I leave for Seattle on Saturday.
So I arrived at the High Commission with 30 minutes left on the clock and bingo I met a nice Scottish lady from just outside Glasgow. Who said no worries come back on Friday. PHEW!!!
HURRAH for the British High Commission who really know how to save my bacon !!
