Communications Minister Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri announced today that as of 1 February next year, value added network service (VANS) providers will be allowed to carry voice using any protocol.

I'm sure Telkom isn't crying too much over this as most people still have to use them to dial up to the internet, but at least international calls will be cheaper. What I was impressed about by the article was that educational training institutions will get a 50% discount! watch the varsity student chew right through that.
Hello.I agree with Andre Odendaal And I definitely think that VoIP will definitely improve the state of communication in this country, South Africa. VoIP is cheaper, and being able to see the person while talking to them enables you to trust them more, because you are able to watch their every move. I do feel sorry for Telkom but luckily for us VoIP allows our business meetings, interviews etc., to take place no matter where we are in the world. watch how the use of VoIP increases over the next few years!
