We are busy chucking about some ideas and possibilities for next months meeting. We would like to hold some sort of strategy workshop during (or instead of) the meeting to get ideas from the people who attend the meetings on the kind of content, technical level, format etc that they would like to see in the meetings over the next year.
We can go for the normal approach of getting someone with in depth experience in a particular technology to come and give a short presentation - to give people an incentive to come along and give their opinions. Alternatively, one idea that I had was to center a talk on some of the ‘softer’ skills of developers – things like “The ins and outs of moving from a permanent position and into the contract market”, or "what to be aware of if you want to start your own software development business".
Do you think something like this would hold any interest, or would you prefer to stick to the purely technical side of development? And (a) what would you like to hear more about, (b) do you want to be the person to present on it?
Any comments welcome right here or
