In true Stormhoek Geek Dinner tradition we are planning on having an informal, unashamedly-geeky get-together (venue to be announced) in the city that never sleeps. Or is that the city that no-one sweeps? Regardless, we'll be pixellating the town red - be there and be square! Plus, if you behave, we're planning a few kick-ass digital surprises.

It'll be a good chance to meet and share ideas with the people you usually only encounter online. All are welcome, geek or not. But all Jozi SA geeks are encouraged to attend!

This is a plea to anyone in the Joburg area for some help. My girlfriend's PC crashed a short while ago and she did not have a backup of her photo archive that was on the disc (silly girl!). The photos mean a lot to her but the +- R3 500 that data recovery companies ask to look at the disc is just to much to shell out.

If anyone has a contact at a data recovery company or has some personal experience with getting data off bad discs and you are willing to help then *please* give me a shout, both myself and my better half would be seriously grateful...

Thanks a ton to all those who took time to send me their best wishes and come and visit me in hospital and at home, it has meant so much to me and I have come to realise how fortunate I am to have such a decent bunch of people to call my friends.

I am working from home now until my leg recovers enough to get back in to work, so if there is something you have been waiting for me to get to please be patient, I am working through the backlog as fast as I can!
