[Red Five Labs] Simon
Well, aside from my several week break, things have been pretty busy at Red Five Labs. After several weeks of coding from a deck chair at home (less fun than it sounds, actually) I am now permanently back at work and things have returned to my own special version of 'normal'.
Here at Red Five Labs we have rolled out our first and second iterations of private beta drops and although I am not involved directly in the customer interaction side of things, what I have heard of the feedback is very positive.
I was asked a week or so ago to write a simple GUI application that could be used as a sample in the beta package. I decided a simple Simon implementation might foot the bill and it took an hour or so to write the app. A week of debugging, hair pulling and tweaking followed - to borrow a turn of phrase from Terry Pratchett - "like the unexpected limbo dancer under the lavatory door of Life".
It was a very good exercise though, because I found quite a few issues that hadn't come up previously and got to the bottom of all of them.
So now we have a working version of Simon which shows quite a large part of the Forms functionality we have built. Here are side-by-side screenshots of the Symbian Emulator and the Smartphone Emulator, both running the same program...
