Role-playing podcast

I found another podcaster, RPGMP3.com which does reviews on roleplaying games.

To quote from their site:
“This site is dedicated to bringing a unique(ish) experience to roleplayers, gamers and web surfers everywhere. A combination of gaming and sound! The Audio Reviews let you listen to roleplaying games unscripted.”

Currently I’m listening to them playing the World’s Largest Dungeon which is brilliant.

I miss the old Dungeon & Dragons role-playing nights and I would start a game up in a flash if I had players for a once-a-week slot.  If you are available, give me shout *nudge, nudge*

A Joke for Splattermail

If you aren’t already reading Splattermail start today!

Personally, I enjoy the movie reviews which are honest in that “friend at the pub told me” kind of way.  Their hot beeatches are worth a private look too (just remember that pc warranties do not cover fluid damage).

Splattermail, if you’re reading this I hope you enjoy this little pic I found when you google for Paris Hilton.

Update [19 July 2005 11:53] I’ve changed the title of the post to “A Joke for Splattermail” as testing has proven this picture to be a fake, and does not express the views of who it was intended for.

*Bad! blogger for not doing your homework*

Podcasts rox0r!!!

So podcasts seem to be the latest thing; Joblug is talking about it, Gabberhead is talking about it and even Senkwe put in a mention.  It’s like blogging and RSS feeds are just not enough!  (I wonder if this means Rich…! will be pod casting soon).

With Telkom’s throttlehold on bandwidth (interesting wiki article) it’s nerve-racking to try out new podcasters so I tend to rely on word-of-mouth for what’s interesting.

I have, however, found The Richard Vobes Radio Show (a UK daily show) very entertaining and .NET Rocks! worth a listen. On the podiobook side Earth Core is a must have and while I didn’t enjoy Morevi so much, you just might.

I’m disappointed by the lack of decent podcast management software out there.  I’ve tried iTunes, iPodder, Doppler and Nimiq and, quite frankly, they’re all crap.  Just a simple tool that doesn’t require me to be online all the time and behind a firewall when I have to be; to manage my files and downloads is all I ask (hmm, maybe I should create something?).  Currently I’m using RSS Bandit and just saving the files to a downloads folder

On a last note Podcast Alley is a really good site for searching for a vast variety of topics.

This post really seems like a sales pitch, but who the hell cares!? So until next time, Ciao!

Friendly Google errors

I love the errors you get from Google’s GMail.  The “Oops” and “Arrghs” seem to lend a sympathy to your plight and keep the whole affair light hearted (it’s only mail after all :P ).

I wish I had the nerve to put such comments managing errors created in my applications.

After the feedback we got from the first hot lab, I’m improving the format by providing hard copies of the demos during class for people to follow along as well as exercises to try at home.

These talks are still introductory, so you can still come along if you missed the first talk.
