Media24.com RSS : A reply! by matt

I mailed media24.com again about their plans to implement RSS on their sites; and this time, I got a reply! “Hi Matt, In reply to your query, we do not have immediate plans to implement a free RSS service. We currently offer various content packages, where corporates purchase News24 content, which is then delivered via XML (or RSS if required). If you're interested in purchasing content, we would require more information regarding proposed implementation. Kind regards Russell Atkins Marketing...

Interesting excerpt by matt

Miguel de Icaza , involved with Mono, recently got interviewed by Netcraft . I found this statement most interesting... “ Q. What do you see as the greatest danger to the continuing adoption and progress of open source? A. Microsoft realises today that Linux is competing for some of the green pastures that it's been enjoying for so long; I think that Longhorn is a big attempt to take back what they owned before. Longhorn has kind of a scary technology called Avalon, which when compounded with...

Spreading the word by matt

I still feels a childish kind of satisfaction everytime I introduce someone to the wonders of RSS and aggregation. I recently mailed a friend with a link to an RSS feed, and the reply was: "Hi Matt Sorry, bit confused here, what exactly is the purpose of this? Regards," What an opportunity! :) I said: " What is RSS? To read, use: Sharpreader or another news aggregator. (I recommend Sharpreader or FeedDemon )" hehehe... can't wait to hear what the next question will be! "Where can I get MORE feeds...

Lonely? Try 'toothing by matt

This is a new phenomenon becoming popular in densely populated areas such as planes; trains and other public locations mostly in the UK. It is basically a form of anonymous sex. How it works is you enable Bluetooth on your suitable device; discover other Bluetooth devices and send them your business card with an invite, something like “Toothing?” You then swap your vital info’s and agree on a location to do “the deed” (which is anything from, presumably, coffee to sex...

Mozilla updates by matt

I just saw Jon Hicks (the guy who design the awesome Firefox icons) has released his icons for the upcoming Thunderbird. They look fantastic, I can't wait for the release. I also checked up on the Firefox roadmap to see when we could play with 0.9. Doesn't look like it will be too long; especially that we could expect a 1.0 Beta by late June!! I find it incredible that this app is already being used so widely in pre-beta and is already so good. (This reminds me: Armand; when could we update this...

Elections by matt

I was pleasantly surprised today while casting my vote as to the organisation and preparation the the IEC had done. It took me a short 45 minute wait and I was done. I also think it's worth applauding the public for their patience and behaviour while waiting. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!
