Yawn by matt

Really folks...all this bitching about the spamming is getting entirely too tedious. Armand is a busy man, and will fix it when he can. (rhyming not intended!) If you don't like spam; don't fucking read it!!! Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!

SpamBayes by matt

Since we're all getting spammed to death by our blogs; I thought I'd share what I'm using to cope with spam. SpamBayes is a Bayesian anti-spam filter plugin for Outlook which, based on what you tell it is Spam or Ham (not spam); will filter the incoming mail and dump it automatically into your Junk EMail folder in Outlook. Just train it on some spam/ham mail and it builds a database (which can be backed up and restored in case of inevitable Windows re-installs) of what is good and bad. I have found...

The future is Mac : part 3 by matt

In response to comments by the infamous “v” regarding Apples choice of Intel versus AMD; I think the answer can be found here and here . Most of the platforms that will initially receive the Intel chips will be the small form factor and mobile machines, mostly due to Intel's brilliant Centrino CPU line. AMD do not have the lead that Intel does on the mobile platform yet; and it just makes sense for Apple to stick with the market leader. The question is though; would you pay a premium...

The future is Mac : part 2 by matt

In an article I didn't read, C|Net notes a couple interesting points which put a different spin on this whole story... “ Jobs said the next version of OS X, called Leopard, will be released in late 2006 or early 2007. That is the same time frame as Microsoft's next Windows update, dubbed Longhorn” Well, depending on your sources it will either coincide with Longhorn's release or come just after it. ”...the issue of running Windows on Macs, saying there are no plans to sell or support...

The future is Mac by matt

The rumours of Apple switching to Intel chips is true ( WindowsITPro ). This is fantastic news, as it is apparently going to hit the shelves mid-2006 (yes, the same time Longhorn is meant to RTM ) and I've always been a bit of an Apple geek. Broadband ZA vs Broadband UK by matt

ZA “ADSL's subscriber penetration level still remains below the one percent mark in a country where tele-density is estimated at ten percent or more than 4.5 million landlines“ - iAfrica UK “UK broadband connections overtake dial-ups” - PCPro This is before the recent price cuts . Let's see how much (if any) this changes in the next six months. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!

Microsoft adding XML file formats to Office 12 by matt

CNET reports : “ Company officials said the move to replace Microsoft's traditional binary file formats with open-standards-based XML versions will allow companies using Office 12 to more easily access data across XML's various applications. Microsoft pledged that the shift to XML , also known as Extensible Markup Language, will decrease the size of many individual files and make documents created in its Office products more resistant to corruption. “ Brilliant! Finally Microsoft are...
