Although I prefer Gnome over KDE, some people may like to try KDE just to see how it compares.

In this post, the Ubuntu Blog details a way to install the KDE desktop on Ubuntu (which uses Gnome by default).
The post also shows you how to prevent KDE apps showing up in Gnome and vice versa.
