  So, the 21 telkom days(5 weeks) came and went. I was to be an unhappy overpaying adsl customer but, you guessed it, the little white van never arrived. We called them yesterday only to find out that our POP doesnt have enough adsl ports, they obviously knew about this 5 weeks ago, why couldnt they tell me then ? • Laptops

  I was visiting incredible connection the other day to physically look at some of the laptops on sale. They sure are trying hard to promote hp, you know the kind where the salesmen keeps telling good stories about a brand and saying it's the best model with a tad too much e nthusiasm. The Sony laptop I was looking at, vaio s28gp, had it’s cleartype setting disabled, which made it look terrible, to top that notepad had its font set to larger than the hp laptops’ font. • Laptops

  I finally _need_ a laptop. Could someone recommend a system and a supplier ? The price for a mid range laptop is more than a dual 2ghz optron with 2gb ram, including the mobo !! I'll buy a laptop with 256mb ram (if I have to, none would be better) and buy 1gb from ww.cyberdyne.co.za, their cpus/hds are also 'cheap'. Is a 1.6 centrino 'fast enough' for developing on ? Did you wish you bought a faster machine ? How does the font look on the 1900x???? screens ? Should developers (db/ide/compiling/etc... • Personal progress.

  I love seeing progress. Of course the best progress to see is personal progress. Unfortunately there isnt really a definitive way of gauging developer progress, but dont hold your breath, the recruitement agencies could possibly want blood samples in the future ... anyway ... I bought myself a 725 polar hart rate monitor, it measures speed, cadence (RPM I'm pedalling), altitude and heart rate. • A Great day

  I'd like to see the day where you can, without a doubt, show problems in your environment to some sort of uncorrupt authority. Lets take an example, I'm driving home from a party: I can identify at least 5 different cars that could possible cause a fatal accident. Would those cars still be on the road if anybody could record and report them ? The problem is the "Without a doubt" part ...   My current contract is nearing an end so a coworker told me that flux was looking for contractors. I'v got an interview there friday, it isnt often one gets the chance to look at your interviewer's blog :-) Which makes me ask the question: Do you give a reference to your blog in your CV ?   Since we'r on an opensource roll here :) http://www.opensourcecms.com/ is a website which has 29 demos of different opensource cms sites. You can login as admin and change whatever you like, in most instances. The sites are recreated every 2 hours. These sites were all built using php and mysql.
