  • What a way to end.... again.

Ok Ok, where have I heard this before... was I not supposed to quieten down this December, YE RIIGGGHHT. Been quite on the post the last two weeks, that’s only due to being inedited with visitors from all over. Now I have certainly learned a bit more about the Cape. (Not to mention having shares - I wish- in a few vineyards around Durbanville)
But the best is yet to come; I have bought a sheep (A dead one) that we are going to braai for new years. (Tina has offered her house this time), So it's gonna be a kinda communities new years party as well as a  farewell to Tina and Evan as JHB has stolen them from us. Also here is to wishing them all the best for the future. Trust me this will be a party to remember.
Those joining us, watch sadeveloper and saarchitect for details, and bring drinks and (yes you got it) swimwear, or change of clothes.
See you there.... Now that will be a way to end.

  • Anyone lose this?

After a rough round of Dark Throne, I thought I needed my eyes tested. So just to make sure I snapped this little fellow in my garage.
A Dark Throne lost soul? Or did someone from the party leave something behind?
But then ,when I'm involved It had better be something interesting, any ideas?
Check it out! this pic is not doctored (trust me). I'll reveal all someday.

  • What a way to end.

Wow what a blast, what with a great ASP.NET 2.0 talk at Old Mutual, (Thanks guys we had fun), then with the party of note at my place where a whole whack of sadeveloper and saarchitech members joined in.(even Armand and Thea joined us from JHB, way to go!)

We started at 2pm with cocktails, then at 3pm wine tasting, then more cocktails, then braaing, SA style, swimming, Water melon fights, more swimming, braaing (again), more cocktails (at which stage 2 wizzers gave up and died, yip my new one died.) and ending off with watching a movie in the courtyard on a big screen.
Thanks to all who could make it, it was a BLAST!!!

  • New Wizzer

About a month ago I acquired a blender (Wizzer) so that I can mix cocktails when friends pop over for a visit. Evan and I have been really enjoying making cocktails this last month, to such a point that the wizzer I bought died. It began leaking by the blades.
The wife took it back today and got me a new super duper industrial strength Wizzer. Wow does this new wizzer work well, (Hey I had to try it out).
So Thursday (http://www.sadeveloper.net/Forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=53401) we gonna make cocktails as well, gotta put this wizzer through its paces.
See pic of my new wizzer below:

  • Windows in RC?

Now I used to fly RC airplanes, in fact I still have my rig. The only Radio Control to use is the Futaba, used to be Sataba.
Well I knew windows CE was getting into every thing but I did not expect it to make this market so soon, check it out. Futaba is to release an RC that runs on windows CE, and its is really wow.

  • One last talk.......

I just could not resist, when Old Mutual offered to host an ASP.NET 2.0 this month.
I know I was supposed to wind down, but this opportunity I was not going to let up, so it’s now a done deal.

I'll be delivering the ASP.NET 2.0 talk from Tech-Ed on the 14th December.

Anyone keen. can go to http://www.sadeveloper.net/Forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=53393

  • sacommunities ROCK!!!! Thank you all......

I’m sitting here doing some reflecting. It has really been a roller coaster ride this last year for both sadeveloper and saarchitect. We have achieved great things far beyond our dreams in most areas, and have fallen short in a few others.

But all in all, thinking back the communities have shown yet again that when you get like minded people together with a common interest, aim to improve others though becoming champions and embracing you passion, You can achieve great things.

Personally, it has been a great year of personal growth for me,  I have seen and achieved things that I did not think I could. This I owe to sadeveloper members. The community has grown as a family, sure we have had our little squabbles, but we have made friends.

People in the communities have stood behind me on many difficult decisions and I have come out (I believe) a better person.

So to sadevelop, saarchitect members, Microsoft, as well as any other community members You all ROCK!!!!. Embrace your passion in the year to come. I am behind all of you, all the way, embrace the communities and share your knowledge. Help yourself by helping others, and let’s make it our goal to grow each of us.
Let’s build the best IT resources this world has ever seen, right here in South Africa.

I raise my glass to all of you. Thank you all for a great 2004, and may 2005 be twice as great.

  • Quiet December.... Ye Right

If I thought I could crawl into a hole and have a quite December, I was very wrong. I suppose it's a good thing, and I am grateful, mainly because I know me, I go crazy if I have a quite few days never mind a whole month. December is a crazy period, but things do tend to slow down, which I have come to dread over the years.

However this year looks to be very different, we have family visiting, (Wine routing time), then we have sadeveloper members coming from all over, gonna have to do something for that (Wine routing). and some international MVPs are coming to Cape Town. Plus a few MS people I know will be down here over part of the December period.

So people I have a great busy December to look forward to, (Oops its' already the 7th, see what I mean)

To those joining us, see you soon, expect a great time.
