Well, it's official... Windows Embedded CE is now Windows Embedded Compact Windows XP Embedded is now Windows Embedded Standard Why is this important? Well, unofficially the XP code base will now be supported for another 10 years! Why is Windows XP Embedded not popular in South Africa?

This is a question I have been asking myself for a while now... Why aren't more people using XPE? Let's start by looking at the pros of XPE: Disclaimer: This article is not about XP versus Linux or any other OS... The article only highlights why you should consider using XPE and not XP/Vista... HP uses XPE

Just to show the growth of XPE, HP has just received a Technology award from Microsoft for their new printer running XPE: "HP recently released a multifunction print device that uses the Microsoft Windows® XP Embedded operating system. The new multifunction print device provides better integration with Microsoft products, improved manageability, easier support and a better user experience. HP's device takes advantage of the Microsoft Windows Embedded family of operating systems." Nice...

Using Bluetooth in .NET

I am busy preparing for a talk on Windows XP Embedded. The talk is aimed at developers showing an example of an end-to-end embedded device being developed. The 2 part talk focuses in part 1 on the development of the application and in part 2 on the XP Embedded operating system for this embedded device. The application that will be developed is similar to the Kodak Picture Kiosk. The application will accept content (photos) via Bluetooth and allow the user to manipulated and print this content. XPE Weekly (31 August 2007)

Well, I have definitely neglected my XPE blog for a while now... I am also trying to move my XPE blog to XPEFiles and only keeping the .NET stuff on dotnet.org.za.
