What do you do if you really need to get a laptop for work purposes but cannot afford it?

I'm now sitting with this situation where I will be starting giving training and need a machine regularly. Taking a full pc is really backbreaking work not to mention a risk that it can be damaged.

In a cupboard at home I have two (and a half) 'old' laptops that are worthless. Both kinda still work but can hardly run anything more than Windows 98 (P I's with 64MB Ram). Both have dead batteries and is thus not portable (actually the one's battery falls out if you try to pick it up :p )

The finacial director (at home) won't let me buy one (and I can't blame her for it).

Its just plain fustrating.... *sigh*

It seems like one of my ambitions to give training is gona become a reality. Although it will not be for income... My work (Shoprite) nominated me to give some in house training of the patterns and practices. I see this as a training exercise so when I do eventually get to give training for income I can do it with experience. Wish me luck.

I've added some of the pictures I took during the pattern & practices sessions to my gallery.

Ok, so I discovered an issue with SP2 and Nero. I had version 6.3.0.0 of Nero and when I tried starting it a message came up stating there are known 'issues with this version of Nero and SP2' Thankfully the fix was easy (but not so quick) - download the latest update from the Nero web site version 6.3.1.17 All seems fine now.
Service pack 2 is installed and it does not feel too bad. Only time will tell. The two new things that I noticed (firewall and antivirus) are also the two I disabled - since I have Norton Internet Security.

I wrote one of 'those' articles where I simply philosophizing about things. Perhaps someone can use it (for a good laugh or so)
