In a blast from the past I discovered one of my old creations (build from lego) and decided to take a couple of pictures of it. Originally the idea was to build a Enterprise D type of ship but the end result was something more in the line of Voyager or Enterprise E. http://dotnet.org.za/photos/rudolf/category1394.aspx Now I just need a Dorg, I mean Borg cube to fight against! Resistance is futile. You will be Legoed.... Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live...
It feels like yesterday when the year got started and there was still a whole year to look forward to. Now, there is little less than a month left of it. So many things happened but I had so many more ideas and plans for things that I wanted to achieve. I guess now they'll have to shift over for a next year. At the beginning of the year I had ambitious ideas about my sci-fi story universe. While the plan is still to get to it I have not done anything further about it and it does not seem that it...
One of the biggest icons of Sci-Fi has passed away. Canadian actor James Doohan, best known for his portrayal of engineer Montgomery Scott on the original Star Trek series has passed away at the age of 85. More available here Although the original Star Trek series was a little bit before my time I did get to see some of the reruns and thanks to Sci-Fi literature the phrase 'Beam me up Scotty" has beccome one of those famous 'sayings' in the movie world. For the Sci-fi fans, there is another fan movie out for the Star Wars universe. Actually, only chapter 1 but there are 7 more chapters coming... The guys at impstherelentless started earlier this year and have chapter 1 available for download. Its about 200MB but worth it. Ok, perhaps not on the level of quality of LucasArts movies but very good for a 'free' fan created movie. The computer animated graphics are mostly good with only a few places where you can compare it to in game movieclips. Perhaps...
Over the last week or two since Star Wars episode III started showing there have been many people forming strong opinions about this issue. Personally I enjoyed the movie. Even as a Star Wars movie there were parts I felt that could have been done better or differently but overall I really enjoyed it. It has all the elements a real Star Wars movie is suppose to have - lots of action, light saber fights, space battles, bad acting, non main characters getting killed, good guys win (or at least get...
I heard this years ago (at the time of Episode I) but it is still very funny. Yoda song There are some other sound clips on that site too. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!
Ok, so I saw the movie yesterday evening.... So what did I think of it? I loved it! It was very good all in all but I do have some comments about things I did'nt like or I thought it could be done differently. My biggest complaint would simply be that at times the story moves too quickly. There are too much that 'just' happen for the sake that it must happen. They could quite easily made another movie in between just covering the last part of the movie. For someone who has followed the 'bigger' story...
Ok, while we're on the topic of Star Wars....eh Store Wars... whatever... store wars Wonder when George is gona sue them ? hehe Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!
On this coming tuesday evening a cousin and I are going to watch the the movie. Although like most people we know (kinda) what is going to happen from what I've heard it is going to be a pretty good story. Even George Lucas himself stated that this will be the best of the 'new' three movies. Now, Monday and Tuesday day must just passed quickly ;-) May the force be... well with the good guys (even though we know they are gona get their buts kicked! Darth Vader will 'rule' till episode IV comes...hey...
Who said only big movie companies can make good movies? A group of Star Wars fans made a 40 min movie completely on their own. Compared to the 'real' movies the quality might not be 100% the same but its much better than what you might expect from someone spending only a meagerly couple of K (dollars). It took something like 3 years to complete. Because its a fan film and the 'rights' to Star Wars belongs to Lucas Arts they cannot make any money of it and thus it is available as a free download from...
Seems some 'kiddies' won't be able to watch the latest Star Wars movie. It has been rated by the MPAA as probably too violent or something to be 'good' for small kids. Chances are these kids probably don't care about these 'old movies' anyway even though older folks like me still enjoy it (or longs for the goo ol' days) The gang from Slashdot seems to have fun discussing the possible reasons like they do for about everything. I received a mail from dstv about their attempts to bring us Sci-fi. Although 'we want more' I feel we must at least acknowledge them for trying to bring us something. Not all people working at Multichoice are bad ;) *meant as humour* The message: Check out the Sci-Fi programming on the DStv website. They placed the schedules in the forum! http://www.dstv.com/gysmm/forumdotnet/threadView.aspx?id=743 ' target=_blank> Click here to view the thread Sci Fi Programming for 6 April actionTV 2005/04/06...
It seems that one of my favourites (if not nr 1) stories is proofing to be more popular than even its creators intended. The show has been sold so much that it is one of the best sellers ever and its still going strong! http://www.wired.com/news/digiwood/0,1412,67044,00.html?tw=wn_tophead_4 Initially I also had my reservations being a supporter of the original story but once I saw the new one I realized it is a winner - definitely better than the original. I'm not going to state it as fact but someone wrote to me about a forum thread on multichoice's site in which he claims someone from their side was posting or changing posts claiming to be him. He tried contacting them and pointing out that they are 'contravining the Communications Act' and since then the forum site has been down. Something is sounding fishy there and the guy claims he has proof of this. Lets just hope there is a good explanation on multichoice side for what's happening. Share this...
Someone sent me some details about the guy at multichoice that was responsible (apparently) for making the decision to remove the sci-fi channel. Now I have a dilema. Should I put his contact details up or not? There is a change the information might be false. it is also possible that he was merely given the order to do this by their management. I do not want to put some innocent guys details on the web so everybody can shout at him and possible insult him as well (and believe me there were a few...
