    Reporting to the Wagering Systems Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with Internet betting and Wagering System Applications.
    Applicants must be able to work flexible hours and should be in possession of the following:
    Matric or equivalent;
    An IT Diploma or suitable Programming Qualification;
    At least two years' experience in C/C++ programming for UNIX / Linux systems;
    Experience in the following would be advantageous

    HTML, JavaScript and PHP web programming;
    SQL databases;
    Networking knowledge, TCP/IP in particular (sockets programming);
    Assembler

    BUSINESS ANALYST

     POSITION PURPOSE:

    To provide personnel at all levels within the company with effectively analysed, evaluated and interpreted financial information and advice, which will assist them in making meaningful business decisions. The position is also responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the corporation’s financial policies and instructions.

     PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    1

    To ensure that management receives accurately analysed, evaluated and interpreted financial information, which will assists in making meaningful business decisions, on both a routine and an ad hoc basis.
    2 To provide management with the financial evaluations of potential investment opportunities to enable them to reap maximum benefit from available resources.
    3 Support the corporation’s program for strong central financial control by reporting to management whenever corporate policies or instructions are not being followed or appear inappropriate, inadequate, or out of date.
    4 Provide financial advice and counseling to non-financial people.  This necessitates on-going informal education to instill some measure of appreciation for the financial implications of marketing, supply chain  or selling decisions made or projects committed to.
    5 To provide a monthly analysis of the unit’s directly controlled expenses (e.g. Advertising and promotional expenditure, selling expenses, marketing  etc.).
    6 Analysis and reporting of production statistics and variances from the mills (in liaison with the mills), and identification and discussion of corrective action alternatives.
    7 Planning, preparation and execution of monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts and budgets covering the areas of sales volumes, prices, costs and expenses down to operating profit level.
    8 Make the best use of available technology to improve the flow and availability of information to managers and directors.
    9 Monthly reconciliation and the maintenance of ongoing control over key expenses and accruals.
     SCOPE:

    The position focuses on analysing and understanding of trading results up to operating profit, working capital and return on invested capital.  In particular it analyses trends in volumes, prices and costs to ensure an acceptable level of margin profit.  The area of analysis incorporates the Supply Chain division.  Counsel and advice is given on results of feasibility studies and evaluations conducted on product line earning statements, forecasts and plans, new products, pricing strategies, special promotions and cost reduction plans, sales incentive schemes and other projects.  Emphasis is on improved results by analysis, understanding and positive persuasion.

     This position reports to the Manager Business Analysis and receives functional direction from the Divisional Directors and Business Managers.
