Yesterday saw the demise of my notebook power supply... which leaves me at somewhat of a loose end. I have about 15 minutes of battery life carefully conserved for “in case of emergency” use only. I phoned Dell to buy a new power supply (my support contract expired exactly 3 weeks ago... typical), but was extremely dissatisfied that it takes 2-3 weeks to arrive! I guess that's the price you pay for living in Africa!
At the same time, I've been toying with the idea of buying myself a DVD player. We already have one at home, but that's in the lounge for movies and it's not mine. So I've considered getting one for my room, but never really settled on one that I like (I'm not one for cheap junk... it must be decent).
So now I face a big dilemma... what do I do with my “free time”!?!? I haven't had any of this in the past 2 years, so I'm a little stuck! I have no laptop, no music, and can't even read (because I only really read technical books that require practical work to be done on a notebook). I was half-way through my “Expert C# Business Objects” book, with a copy of “Expert Service Oriented Architecture” on the way (timed perfectly to arrive when I finish the Business Objects book, which now won't happen). The notebook was my only PC (having got rid of my clunky desktop sometime last year), so now I'm stumped!
I just downloaded 4 of the .NET Rocks episodes, only to find that they won't fit on a CD. My notebook has a DVD-writer, but that's out of action... and both my CD and DVD players don't play MP3's... so this week really could not get any worse!!!
So if anyone has any magic suggestions... that'd be great!
