Why do people show no respect for RSVPs?

Yesterday we hosted the third monthly saArchitect community event focused on “Microsoft Enterprise Libraries, a worthwhile open source initiative?”, for which both Peter and Ernst spend a lot of time and effort preparing. Based on the 51 RSVPs received Tina from Microsoft made arrangements for facilities and refreshments. So where does this thread lead ...?

We had 18 people showing up ... 33 missing in action, with only 1 appology.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the session I wondered whether there is something rotten in the state of  the “saArchitect” community. Surely one either shows up or sends an appology once confirming (RSVP) attendance for a session?

Anyway, thanks Tina for the facilities and thanks Peter and ERnst for an excellent session. The 33 missing in action have no idea what they missed.

saArchitect Community Sessions (Revised schedule for Johannesburg)

We were requested by Microsoft to reschedule the Indigo and Avalon sessions and have therefore changed the schedule as follows:

  • 2005/07/27 15:30 Session - Microsoft Enterprise Libraries, a worthwhile open source initiative?
            • Speaker: Peter Scheffel
            • Venue: Microsoft
  • 2005/08/24 15:30 Session - "What is open source and how can the SA community contribute?"
            • Speaker: Anton de Wet
            • Venue: Nedcor
The Indigo and Avalon session will most likely be planned for September (Avalon) and November (Indigo), with no community session in October due to TechEd.

Please note that the starting time of the sessions has been changed to 15:30 as requested by the community. Please RSVP to maria@bbd.co.za as soon as possible for these sessions and refer to www.saArchitect.co.za for more information on the sessions and speakers.
