Microsoft Office Interactive Developer Map

If you're an Office (OBA, SharePoint 2007, PerformancePoint 2007, Unified Communications, Groove, Project Server, Visio, etc etc) Developer , you're going to love this application. It's very useful, especially to people that are still grasping how the full Office offering from Microsoft works (Enterprise Content Management, Business Intelligence, etc etc) and also, it's also quite funky to use. Here's the link: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/office/bb497969.aspx "The Microsoft...

Business Productivity Infrastructure Optimization University (BPIO U) Online

This is invaluable for your sales people. Since Microsoft decided to, not just tap, but actually make a strong presence in the Enterprise Content Management and Performance Management (Business Intelligence) Market, and for some Partners here locally that were more infrastructure and some Web Content Management (old SP 2003) orientated this practically happened over night. Although now more and more of the MS Partners are trying to venture into this space and have done great job of skilling up their...

Main Competition to SharePoint Server 2007 - ECM Market Leaders

After one of my previous posts ( SharePoint 2007 Workflow (WWF) VS OpenText Livelink Workflow ), few people came back to me, asking me: What is Livelink? What is Livelink Workflow? Livelink ( http://www.opentext.com/ ) is one of the leading Enterprise Content Management offerings from OpenText. It’s permanently featuring in the fourth Gartner Quadrant ( http://www.gartner.com/ ) together with its two main competitors (also giants in the ECM industry) Documentum ( http://www.documentum.com/ owned...

Getting down with Microsoft Office Business Applications (OBAs)

Some of you might remember when Microsoft unveiled Microsoft Office Business Applications strategy at the TechEd US last year. Some of the more fortunate of us even had an opportunity to be there in person (not me). Basically the concept came after Microsoft decided to go into the whole Enterprise Content Management industry and compete with OpenText, EMC, and Filenet with it's very powerful, yours and my favourite, MS Sharepoint Server 2007. They made offering twice as competitive and twice...

PerformancePoint Server 2007 and how it positions itself with the rest of the Microsoft BI offering

Remember my last blog entry when I talked about Sharepoint 2007 Excel Services and Excel ? The stack looked something like the one below: By adding PerfomrancePoint Server Microsoft is adding a new layer to the stack that addresses Performance Management. Microsoft wants to make BI more complete, more corporate and more accountable. By more complete, they mean more subject areas and the whole BI process. They need to break these down separately. Most users, when they do personal BI, generally consume...

On Thursday 17 th of May I did an internal presentation to my colleagues and consultants at Business Connexion on Microsoft Office Business Applications (OBAs) focusing mainly on Retail OBAs and also an overview on Health, Finance and Manfacturing OBAs, followed by Sharepoint 2007 Business Intelligence solutions (beautiful blend of Enterprise Content Management and Business Intelligence). Due to popular demand I will have to redo this demo (and due to some interruptions) this coming Thursday. Demo...

Sharepoint 2007 Excel Services and Excel 2007 - Microsoft Business Intelligence

At the heart of today's Microsoft's Business Intelligence offering lies SQL 2005, this is where (chronologically) Microsoft began. Besides the relational engine, SQL Server provides three key components that support the three key technical activities, or verbs, of BI. Integration Services is the ETL tool. It lets you pull together data from multiple sources and create, or synthesize, new information. It's high-performance, with a very rich feature set. Analysis Services let's you...
